Advanced Clinician Series: Ankle and Foot 10/17/20

October 17 @ 8:00 am - 1:30 pm CDT

This course is designed to combine the expertise of the surgeon and physical therapist, giving course participants access to the complete process of pre-op, operative, and post-op protocols, and how to apply clinical reasoning to make an effective treatment plan.  It will take place from 8:00 am CST to 1:30 pm CST.

This activity has been approved by the Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners for 5.50 CCUs for PTs and PTAs.

Outline

  • Ankle and foot anatomy
  • Understanding of common pathologies of the ankle and foot and the healing process
  • Appropriate rehab intervention techniques for various diagnoses, including acute, chronic, and post-op care
  • Understanding of differential diagnoses techniques for the ankle and foot when evaluating a patient
  • Understanding of when surgical interventions are warranted and how they are performed
  • Increased awareness of the customizing of shoe inserts and when they are warranted
  • Awareness of how to open and run a successful PT private practice
  • Provide up-to-date treatment from diagnosis, surgical interventions and follow up therapy.

About Dr. Dibra, DPT

Blerim Dibra graduated with his Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) from Florida International University in Miami, Florida in August 2010, and has had extensive experience in orthopedic, acute care, neuro and home health with both adults and pediatrics. He discovered that his passion lies in outpatient orthopedics, and pursued that passion by owning and operating a successful PT/OT clinic in Homestead, Florida, and currently owns and operates a successful practice in Minot, North Dakota.

Dr. Dibra has been a member of the American Physical Therapy Association since 2007 and has recently applied to become a Board-Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist.

Dr. Dibra clearly understands the challenges that exist in opening and growing a successful practice from a limited-access state like Florida to an unrestricted direct access state like North Dakota. He has been directly involved with logistical planning and execution of these private practices from credentialing, to lease negotiations, facility design, equipment selection and purchasing, marketing, billing/collections, accounting expense categorization as well as support personnel selection and training.

He is very passionate about sharing his knowledge and experience with you, so you may accomplish your dream of opening and growing a successful Physical Therapy Practice.

About Dr. Albers, DPM, FACFAS

A specialist in podiatric medicine, Dr. Aaron Albers provides surgical and nonsurgical treatment for the full range of foot and ankle disorders, including sports injuries, structural abnormalities, diabetic foot, and nerve disorders. Dr. Albers is board certified by the American Board of foot and ankle surgery.

Medical education:

  • Doctor of podiatric medicine, Barry University, Miami
  • Podiatric residency, Kingwood medical center, Houston, where he focused on foot and ankle surgery, reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery, trauma and sports injuries, diabetic foot management, and limb salvage/wound care.
